You Are 20 Weeks Pregnant

You have gained more than ten pounds and the baby will continue gaining at least a pound every week from now onwards. If the mother is over weight, she will gain less weight during pregnancy. At 20 weeks pregnant, the baby weighs ten and a half ounces six and a half inches from the head to its bottom because the baby is curled up. It is swallowing more amniotic fluid and start producing meconium 20 weeks pregnant. Meconium is a thick sticky substance a by product of digestion of amniotic fluid that will come out after birth.

The mother should ensure she takes diet with enough iron which important for the formation of hemoglobin. Your waist line has expanded and is no longer visible at 20 weeks pregnant. The uterus is just above the belly button at this time. If you are carrying a girl, its sex organs can be seen now. The growing uterus on the other hand puts pressure on the internal organs and diaphragm causing you to have short breathes increased frequency of urination and indigestion. This pressure will also cause your belly button to pop out and you will start noticing stretch marks.
